Last Friday we loaded up our van and headed East.
It was a very long drive!
The countryside was full of beautiful scenes waiting to become paintings.
It was also full of a lot of tunnels.
Tunnels that the boys insisted on calling "The Black Holes of Doom" every time.
Thankfully, Henry drew us a map and we didn't get lost once.
We finally arrived at our destination and were so happy to see our friends, whom we have missed greatly these last few months.
It was as if no time had passed and we were as close as ever.
Everyone should experience camping with 8 kids, ages 10 and under, 7 of them boys at some point in their lives. Serious fun. LOTS of help!
On Saturday we headed over to Valley Forge National Park.
| Martha & George |
We watched a short film about Valley Forge and then headed out to the beautiful park.
Trying out the bunk beds.
And because we were at Valley Forge, where the Army practiced their military skills, the boys thought it only appropriate that they practiced their skills as well.
Our BIG family!!
Back at the campsite we enjoyed a soccer game between families,
catching up on new things,
and bike/scooter rides down Rocket Run Hill (as named by the kids).
As we were planning our trip, my friend said, " This will be a bittersweet reunion."
It truly was. The time in between our next visit will be long.
But I am thankful that the Lord brought us together again and that no matter how quick our time was, we had it. More memories to store.
The drives through East Pennsylvania are picture perfect.
And speaking of pictures.
Our real purpose for traveling out there was to turn in one of my husbands paintings.
He was accepted into the Philadelphia Watercolor Society!
We are so proud of him!
