Father & Daughters

Last Friday night my dad took my sisters and I to a father/daughter dinner at his church.
It was really a nice evening. Nothing great or elaborate, just simple and calm.
Sometimes those are the best.

A Wedding

My cousin, Lisa, got married this weekend. It was a beautiful wedding, complete with a gorgeous bride!
*My pictures are bad.
*We got to the wedding late.
*We forgot the invitation and didn't know the address.
*Don't worry, we found it when we got home. . . under the seat. . . in the van!
Anyway, here is my first blurry picture from the back of the church that we snuck into after the wedding had started.

My cousin Katie's little girl, Ben and the Angel.

And here's the family, happy, sad, confused, mad, and who knows what else.
I am just glad everyone has on two shoes that match!

Then at the reception, Henry ate and ate and ate. I think he doubled his weight.
Here he is eating his favorite of the night "eyeballs". To you and me, meatballs.

This is why. . .

. . . I had kids.

They are amazing workers.
Just yesterday Peter did the weed whacking in the yard.
The best part is - they LOVE it!!!

mmm. . . maybe I should have more so that I can have more workers. . .
Just kidding, or not!!

And these gorgeous blooms are in the back of my yard. They were a Mothers Day present
a few years ago and are looking so great this year.

UPDATE: HENRY WATCH 2010 - We have made it through an entire day and a half with NO
extra trouble!!!

This and That

Look at this!!!

My sister made this dress for Lilly out of a woman's shirt!!! She. is. that. good.
This is her blog Joy2Sew
The little angel loves it! She says, "Aunt Joy made it for ME!!!!

And I did a little furniture painting the other day. We have friends, who are missionaries coming home for a year. They needed to furnish a house!! We are putting a closet IN where our dresser currently sits so I am passing the dresser onto them. However, once I looked closer at the dresser I was mortified to think they would be putting it in their house! It was in bad shape!!

BEFORE:

(disclaimer: I know the orange is HORRID. A paint choice gone very very wrong).

AFTER:

Now it is freshened up ready for its new home!!
(I am missing one drawer pull - but I was anxious to take pictures!)

JUST FOR FUN FRIDAY

The picture every mother loves and every child hates. . . matching shirts!!!!
I thought I would post this picture because Henry has been reminiscing about when he was younger lately. He will say to Lilly, "when I was younger I. . ."

So reminisce H, about the good ole days. You know the ones where your only mess was a cup of spilled milk!!!! (I can't even post the things he has done this week. . . seriously!)

Random things and an UPDATE

I have been wanting to share this little project for awhile, but forgot to take AFTER pictures until just recently.
This one was a Christmas present we gave to Pete's dad. They kids always take their toys to him to fix AND he always does. So I found some scrap wood, painted, stained and "toughened" it up. Pete painted the words.

This one we gave to my grandparents. I know they love me, but I think now they love my kids more!! They have it hanging right inside their door.

It was fun to give them something different and something we made ourselves, and of course because I am so cheap - free!
And I turned these yummy strawberries into. . .

this!!!!

There is a jar missing that is already in the refrigerator. The rest I will freeze. I only used about 1/2 of the strawberries I pictured. I froze some for smoothies and made a couple of pies. I think June is my favorite month because that is when the strawberry picking is best.
This jam is so good!!! With my coupons and sales, 7 jars cost me $2!!!
And it was EASY!!!!
And if you are involved in HENRY WATCH 2010. . .
-entire box of Cheese-Its taken out of my storage and eaten
-entire box of Fruit Gusher taken out of my storage and eaten
-whole bottle of fabric softner dumped out - he dumped it near our vent in the basement so every time the air comes on our house smells like Snuggle. It is actually nice.
-strung 6 spools of thread from my room to his room
-pulled the stuffing out of a pillow
THIS WAS ALL ON FRIDAY (from 2 - 4:30)!!
And this morning I had to sweep up 30lbs of soil that he dumped in the garage.
Calgon take me away!!!
