Hocking Hills

 

Last weekend we camped at Hocking Hills with some of our dear friends.

The weather was perfect except for a 30 minute period of rain while we cooked

dinner over the fire. 

 

It is so amazing to see God's blessings in the gift of wonderful friends! 

On Saturday we took a 6 mile hike through the hills.

I was so thankful for this relaxing weekend to mark the end of summer!

 I'm still not ready for school to start though!!!!



Indian Lake

Over the weekend we drove out into the country and went camping with some great friends.

The first day the weather was a little scary.

We hit the beach for about 10 minutes! 

This one was not quite understanding the words, "A storm is coming. HURRY!!!!"

He was just taking his time, watching it come in.

The next day was much nicer.

This is what the adults did the whole time. . . sat and talked!

I love that our kids are old enough now to entertain and take care of themselves. 

We can actually relax!!!

When they weren't at the beach, the girls were in the tent playing with dolls.

Lilly was in Heaven with 2 girls around!

 

From the back, you can't tell these two pretty girls apart!

In fact, they decided that they were actually twins and changed their names to Courtney and Claire.

Too fun!

 

Over the weekend, these boys recited every. single. word of the LEGO movie!

 

 The nice thing about taking 12 year old boys camping.

They set up their tent.



And they take their tent down. 

 

We are so blessed by these friends.

What a wonderful weekend!!!

 



CAMPING

Over the weekend, Pete & I took the big boys on a camping trip.

I absolutely LOVE my two little ones, but, oh my it was SOOOOO nice just being with my big two!

What a relaxing weekend!!

We went to a lake. 

This year it was too cold to go swimming so we just enjoyed watching all that

was going on around us.

Ben made his own fishing pole. 

 A branch, paper, tape, twine, the metal part of a twist tie, a rock and a shriveled up half dead worm. 

And even though he didn't catch anything, he had a great time trying!!

The younger two kids in our family LOVE to talk and are VERY active. 

I think because of that I don't get a lot of time with the big boys to just hang out and enjoy

being together.

This past weekend, that was all we did!  



I think this will forever be one of my favorite weekends of all time! 

We had to leave a night early because of rain.

However, the boys weren't quite done camping and we set the tent up in the living room!



Kelley's Island (part 4)

The morning of our 4th day on Kelley's Island, we had a delicious breakfast, which my friend cooked every morning of our trip.  This might of been the most relaxing thing for me - not having to cook the whole time!!!!

We packed up and headed back to the Ferry.

The kids enjoyed the ride again!

 So did Pete and I!!!

We stopped back at Marblehead to try to go up in the lighthouse. But it wasn't meant to be on this trip.  It didn't open until much later in the day and we were not willing to wait.

The kids enjoyed one last climb on the rocks.

 We enjoyed the beautiful Ohio country side on the drive back.

And the kids enjoyed a few more hours together.

( This was a REALLY great place to visit.  I would highly recommend it!)

Kelley's Island (part 3)

The kids stayed entertained during the whole 4 days.

Bubble hair.

A birthday celebration.

Glow sticks.

A hike along the Glacial Grooves.

Hours and hours of digging in the sand, splashing in the water and naps on the beach.

And a failed fun event planned by me.  Pinterest said it would work well, I apparently didn't read the part about broken glass. . . 

I was trying to make glow in the dark bubbles.

 So many wonderful memories.
