YOU CAN BUILT IT

. . . we can help.

Last Saturday Pete was working all day so I took the kids to -

The project was to build a periscope.

And when I walked in with the kids, the guy at the store looked at me like, "Um mamm, are YOU going to help these kids?"

Just sit back and watch mister!!

Safety first!

Henry did great on his project! He did however ask if I would hold the nail while he hammered.
Ya, I don't think so!!

See, I had everything under control.

TA DA!!!! We really had a great time doing this (and it was my favorite word:free)!!

And that's the POWER OF HOME DEPOT!!

Celebrate America

1880's style
On the 4th of July we went to a real working farm set to the date of 1880.

Henry entered a pie eating contest.

Oh yeah, he is perfect for this!!!

We played some yard games.

Which makes me think of all the fun children had back in 1880 with not a tv, computer, dvd, or playstation in site!! I LOVE 1880 (well except for no air conditioning, backbreaking work, no Walmart, ok nevermind).

Next, we listen to some great American music on the front porch of the main house.

We enjoyed the scenery.

And talks with the local folk.

Then we spotted WAGON RIDES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And the Angel was afraid for her life!

But we had a great time on the bumpy ride.

And the views were spectacular.

Except when these horsed lifted their tales and let out a sound I will have nightmares about!

A little taste of farm life.
Henry is really jealous of how dirty that pig is and that the pigs mom doesn't care.

These baby lambs were born just 2 days ago!!!

At 4:30pm there was a call for the sack race to begin.

The boys suited up and were ready for the big race.

Go. Hop. Go. Hop. Hop. Hop.
It was fun! And Ben got a wooden nickel as a prize (guess it's worth?)

We loved celebrating our great America in 1880!!!!!!!!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Creation Museum - Summer Visit

On Friday, we made our annual summer trip to the Creation Museum - with our dear friends (Jason & Lori and their 3 girls).
Simply put - we had a blast!!!!!
Here is our day. . .

Peter, Henry, Marli, Ben, the Angel, Bailey and Darcy
"Are we really going to make it through this place with 7 kids???"

The Angel is thinking about joining the coal mine industry.
"But will I get dirty?"

Our family enjoying the Garden of Eden.
"Peter look up. Peter. Peter. " *click*
"Never mind."

"Children be very quiet, there is a dinosaur right behind you."

The Angel

Ben's encounter with a dinosaur.
"Big, scary dinosaur, I know you just killed your young, but please don't hurt me. I am really skinny and have no meat on my bones. You wouldn't enjoy me at all."
Aaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I have come to that conclusion that compared to Adam and Eve, I am a BIG WIMP!!!

Waiting for the movie to start.
Lori: "I just love that movie."
Jason: "I almost fell asleep."
Lori: "You are just resting in the LORD."

Crossing the bridge to the beautiful gardens.
Me: "Kids, wait!!"
Kids: "What??"
Me: "Kids, come back!"
Kids: "What??"
Me: "Kids, stop!"
Kids: "What?? "
Me: "Nevermind."

One of the many ponds.
"Look mom, we are fishing!"

Dinner time!!
Marli: "Can I have Ben's fruit?"
Lori: "No, you have your own fruit."
Ben: "Can I have Marli's fruit?"
Me: "No, you have your own fruit."

Genesis1:11-12 Then God said, "Let the earth sprout vegetation: plants yielding seed, and fruit trees on the earth bearing fruit after their kind with seed in them"; and it was so. The earth brought forth vegetation, plants yielding seed after their kind, and trees bearing fruit iwth seed in them, after their kind; and God saw that it was good."

At the petting zoo.
Ben: "Mom, can I have a pet sheep?"
Me: "No."

Ben: "Mom, can I have a pet camel?"
Me: "No."

Ben: "Mom, can I have a pet dog?"
Me: "No."
Ben: "Fish?"
Me: "No."
Ben: "Crab?"
Me: "No. But you may have a pet rock."
Ben: "Alright!"

The Angel: "Mmm, I wonder what pet food tastes like?"

Washing the animal slobber from their hands.

Peter cooling off. (It looks like the hose is a snake.)

Darcy & Ben: "come out little animal, we won't hurt you."

A great day with great friends!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On our way out this happened. . .
Jason: "Oh man, what was that noise?"
Lori: "I don't know."
Jason: " Oh look, there is our bumper hanging off our van."
Pete: "Need help?"
Jason: "Got rope???"

They made it home safely and Pete is looking into a new career as an emergency car repair man.
